If you have worked with Fillmed Nanosoft, you may already know MicronJet™ – just under a different name. Fillmed Nanosoft was offered as a white-label version of MicronJet™ 600, with identical technology and specifications.
Now, MicronJet™ itself is taking centre stage. Alongside the familiar 0.6 mm version, the range also includes MicronJet™ 800, a new 0.8 mm version for medium- to high-viscosity formulations.
What is behind the technology – and when should each version be used?
What makes MicronJet™ different?
MicronJet™ is an intradermal delivery system from NanoPass Technologies. Instead of a conventional injection needle, it features three extremely small, hollow micropy ramids made of crystalline silicon.
These are manufactured using MEMS technology (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) and are designed to enable controlled intradermal delivery at a defined depth.
0.6 or 0.8 mm? Comparing MicronJet™ 600 and 800
Two versions are now available: MicronJet™ 600 and MicronJet™ 800. They differ not only in micropyramid length, but also in the formulations they have been optimised for.
MicronJet™ 600 | 0.6 mm
The familiar 0.6 mm version is designed for low- to medium-viscosity formulations. According to the manufacturer, its flow is approximately equivalent to that of a 30G needle.
MicronJet™ 800 | 0.8 mm
The new 0.8 mm version is optimised for medium- to high-viscosity formulations and, according to the manufacturer, offers a flow approximately equivalent to that of a 27G needle.
MicronJet™ 800 therefore primarily broadens the choice of products that can be used. The longer version may also be of interest for areas with thicker skin: a specialist article mentions the back and abdomen as potential treatment areas for MicronJet™ 800, for example.
Which products can be administered with MicronJet™?
The system is not limited to a specific product. NanoPass lists the following examples:
- Skin boosters with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid
- Polynucleotides / PDRN
- Mesotherapy cocktails
- PRP
- Lidocaine
- Botulinum toxin for intradermal administration
Potential treatment areas are correspondingly varied and include the eye contour and periorbital area, face, neck, décolletage and scalp. The specific application always depends on the product used and the applicable regulatory requirements.
For existing Fillmed Nanosoft users, the transition is less significant than the new product name might initially suggest.
NanoPass confirms that Fillmed Nanosoft was offered as a white-label version of MicronJet™ 600, with the same specifications and underlying technology.
