Azelaic acid is a natural dicarboxylic acid with strong antibacterial, comedolytic, anti-inflammatory, depigmenting and antioxidant properties. It normalizes cornification, which leads to the formation of blackheads. Due to its antibacterial and bactericidal properties, it promotes the disappearance of acne and reduces sebum secretion. Azelaic acid inhibits tyrosine activity in the melanogenesis process, eliminating skin blemishes and creating an even, radiant complexion. When combined with salicylic acid, the synergistic effect on the skin is enhanced.
Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid with keratolytic and comedolytic properties. It reduces the cohesion of keratinocytes, which causes the detachment of dead and damaged skin cells. This ensures controlled removal of the epidermal skin layer and subsequent regeneration of the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes and pigmentation spots.
Its lipophilic and water-soluble properties allow it to penetrate deep into sebum-filled hair follicles, unclogging pores and improving the texture of acne-prone skin. Salicylic acid has keratolytic, bactericidal, astringent and fungicidal properties that effectively attack all major acne factors.
